A COLD WAR POLITICAL THRILLER. Set in the 1950s, when Britain is mourning the death of their King and still recovering from the ravages of War. There are still many shortages of everyday essential items and an uncertainty about the future which the communists will seek to exploit, creating unrest through the trade union movement and with an attempt to install a high ranking official into the Civil Service and so influence government. As always they use threats and intimidation to secure positions in the union movement and so spread their communist propaganda. Polly and Daniel Bottomley see these threats emerging from their positions in the Home Office and the security services. They discover a deep conspiracy by the Soviets to take over government and so begins a race to stop them before it is too late. Although Polly is only eighteen years old her position in the Home Office gives her a unique opportunity to secure information against the organisation seeking to gain power through the Civil Service. Despite being subjected to several brutal assaults, abductions and attempts on her life and despite Daniel being shot whilst having to rescue her on several occasions, they refuse to give up the fight to bring those responsible to justice. Will their love and devotion for each other prevail as the tension and suspense is raised to an exciting conclusion? Will the Soviets finally rid themselves of Polly by disposing of her at sea, can Daniel find out where they have taken her? And will they secure enough evidence against the communists to have them convicted? The book is part of an action packed political trilogy from the author, with the next novel, The Octopus Virus, due out in September 2016.
