This book is about a 12-year-old girl named, Holly Parker. One Sunday afternoon, she came home and found her family had been shot to death on the kitchen floor. After the funeral she went to live with her rich uncle and aunt in Texas. Her Uncle Ben was a very strict man. He physically and mentally abused Holly. bot only did her uncle abuse her, but also during her teenage-years, people that she loved and trusted abused her too. Around the age of 19, her uncle got furious with her and threw her out of his house. Having nowhere else to go, she returns to the house where her family had all died. While living there, she had nightmares about their deaths and all the other people that had hurt her in the past. After awhile, with the help of a friend, she got her life back on track by getting off drugs and alchol and finding a good job. Eventually, she fell in love with a guy named Jeffery. Things were good between them until he lost his job. He started drinking and hitting her. After on very bad beating, she finally had enough and she had Jeffery arrested. As time went by, she avoided going out with anyone until she met her favorite singer and fell in love again. Will things be better with him or will this relationship end up being a disaster too?
