Oil was discovered on the island and her father had left, Men began pumping oil on the island. The island's resources were destroyed' Nihil's mother could not feed herself or Nihil. She went in search of Nihil's father. Every where she went Nihil's father had recently left. As he continued her search Nihil was born at sea. The mother died shortly after giving birth. She and Nihil were brought to another remote island Before dying she requested that Nihil be returned to the island where she was conceived. A missionary agreed to take care of Nihil, Since he was a missionary he travelled to different places. Nihil travelled with him. Each new experience brought new questions from Nihil about money, where it comes from. what value it has. Se also raises questions about our abuse of the environment. All her questions are raised with as Nihil in her simple way looks at God ad God's view of the world and God's mandate to us to take care of the world and the universe.
