Thomas Callo was a young man, who after graduating high school and obtaining an associate's degree, was bouncing from one job to the next trying to find his career. He was told by a relative to look at the many career opportunities within the NYPD. He looked at the various command units within the NYPD. The one command unit that was most interesting to him was the Crime Laboratory. This required him to become a sworn police officer with several years of patrol experience. This became his goal and he decided to join the NYPD and work towards that goal. The book is the recollection of stories that officer Callo encountered while a member of the Police Department. The book describes how officer Callo worked towards his goal to be a member of the Crime Laboratory by continuing is education. The book also describes the recollection of many of the encounters which officer Callo was involved with, at the Police Academy, on Patrol, with the Youth Division, and while in the Crime Laboratory. All these encounters resulted in stories which are detailed in each of the book chapters.
