Heal Before You Deal, Erica speaks on growing up without the love of her father, due to his passing away at the tender age of 6. Throughout her childhood, and into her adult years, Erica continuously tried to fill the void of not having her father's love, attention, or guidance, only to find that her temporary solutions of fulfillment made things worse, much worse. Dealing with severe low self-esteem, she started to seek validation from others-primarily men. Her first encounter with a man was with someone much older, which ended up being a mentally and physically abusive relationship and left her with more issues than she began with. Trying to overcome this experience, and not knowing she would endure more pain, she went into yet another relationship, that left her emotionally distraught. With what felt like a lifetime, Erica realized her self-efforts to fill her void only placed her in a continuous cycle of brokenness, so she decided to try something new. She looked within herself for the love, attention, and guidance and started with facing her biggest challenge...forgiveness; not only for herself but for others as well. Starting this process allowed space in her life to move forward and do things that she'd always been hindered from doing. One of which was becoming the woman God created her to be. Erica hopes and believes that her unveiling and open story will help women know that no matter the circumstances, there is purpose on the other side of pain.
