Tale Of A Girl

Mary Ruth comes of age in the 1950s in the town of Whittier, thirty miles east of Los Angeles. She is raised by her mother and Quaker grandparents, from whom she learns the values of non-violence and helping others. She and her family rescue a girl in tragic circumstances. Family, friends and teachers are there for her when she has decisions to make. She comes to see how all of these people are invested in the upbringing of a child, as she contemplates her future as a teacher.
