Jake's Memory

The quest to understand love and loss is the bind of this collection. In the first story, "The Old Military Road", the life and loves of an old, ex air force veteran is seen through the eyes of the young narrator Danny who becomes Jack's friend, and confidante. The characters lives unfold: we meet an unmarried mother who feels compelled to part with her much-loved son. We glimpse Ellie, whose life remains mysterious, with mementos only such as the brass violin to cast light on the life she led. In the last story, "Jake's Memory", the importance of the past, of memory itself, haunts Jake's imagination as he strives to both remember and comprehend his grandfather's wisdom.
