This book is about the trials and tragedies that afflicted the Anwar family. Each and every one of the eleven children suffered personal tragedy or mortal tragedy. Rumors circulated around that someone or something put a curse on the family. The first born child was visited by the Grimm reaper only after a few weeks of life and taken away. The rest suffered innumerable tragedies as the story unfolds causing them to wonder if what befell them was the very act of God. Although much happened to all ten remaining brothers and sisters, book is centered on two individuals; Olan and Odom, born in a family with what seems to be 'the mother of all problems'. Olan was the sixth child and his brother Odom, the seventh among eleven siblings born to Anwar and his wife Celia. The book is based on actual events written on their turbulent lives, their struggles to fight and overcome obstacles one after another in an endless series of misfortunes and tragedies which inevitably led to their own demise. Born in a far-away and insignificant place, they moved to Atlanta, Georgia with the hope of achieving the American dream. To their surprise, achieving the American dream was like chasing and catching the phantom. Their struggles and challenges were unlike other struggles and challenges faced by ordinary people. Because they were born in a typically dysfunctional family, family who did not know the words 'peace' and 'serenity', the brothers found themselves in a far-away places hoping to finally find peace and some kind of serenity but there were surprises at every turn of their turbulent lives. From the age at which they became aware of their surroundings, all they witnessed around them were constant fights, heartbreaks, pains, deaths and endless struggles to survive. Every day came with its own sets of challenges and obstacles to overcome. What appeared like a light at the end of a tunnel was quickly and suddenly snuffed off leaving them with little to no hope of making it in life. Unable to overcome the challenges and obstacles in life, many of Anwar's family members became victims and succumbed leaving desolate children and broken hearts behind. It is a wonder that those who made it to adulthood, made it at all. This book will leave you and many others pondering the statement 'They hear the cry of the poor and destitute but they do not listen.'
