The Newbury Gourmet Society

Pete and Moira meet at an evening cooking class and romance blossoms until Pete's world is thrown violently off the rails with the revelation that his new girlfriend belongs to a cannibalistic supper club attended by both Newbury's mayor and police chief that dates back to the town's founding. Moira insists that the institution doesn't actively kill its protein source, but instead secures fresh meat via accident victims from a notoriously dangerous stretch of local freeway. Disgusted though he may be, Pete finds that he is now addicted to the human flesh he has been consuming unwittingly and returns to Moira's love. A schism erupts within society when the state governor announces repairs to the freeway and an end to the society's free lunch. To kill or not to kill? Moira and Pete spearhead the dissenters and defect, suffering terribly from withdrawal, weakness, and spells of rage, while the top policeman forms a hunting party that begins butchering drifters, addicts, and prostitutes. In order to end the corruption Moira and Pete conduct a bloody and cataclysmic siege of a lavish dinner party.
