Meeting challenges This adventure is about a regular guy, small business man in modern times, who finds himself recruited as an agent for an inter galactic agency that promotes healthy social and political relations between worlds, etc. He is an educated man with decent moral values, middle aged, and settled in a healthy loving relationship when everything changes for him. His life is given a different direction and he finds new aspects to himself as he has to face the challenges of moving past what he thinks is possible. His cultural references are expanded in the areas of humour and social patterns. A day of the main character that is not in the book starts with his alarm waking him in his room in the training facility.Jay hears the soft tone of his alarm and looks around the room. Remembering where he is he lays back down and thinks about his situation. 'I have been here two weeks, the food is good and these beings seem pleasant' he thinks. But he asks himself if it is real, and if he is a prisoner or if he is a specimen. 'What will they do to me next?' he thinks to himself as he remembers the day before when he was taught how to follow the social norms of a alien species that is all furry and about a foot shorter than him on average. 'Those Korobs' he thinks to himself, 'they can't stop touching each other or me, I can't take it' then he laughs to himself. "Well it is better than going to work at home I guess", he thinks aloud and rolls to sit on the side of the bed. He looks over at the shower and hopes he can get it work better than it did the night before. Jay looks to the kitchen then walks to make himself what is as close to a coffee as this world can provide. Once his cup is filed he looks at it and thinks aloud, "Mrruk they call it, but it's not that bad" and he takes a sip, looks in the cooler, closes it and goes to the next room with his drink in hand. He looks at the shower again and puts his mrruk on the coffee table and go to the controls and fiddles with them until water is flowing from the ceiling at about the temperature that he likes and steps into it. He reaches to the button that adds soap to the water and scrubs. Then works the button again until the soap stops so he can rinse himself. After drying himself with a towel form the cabinet he chooses something to wear and finishes his mrruk. 'Well at least the clothes are great' he thinks to himself as he slips on his shoes and asks the door to let him out. He walks to the elevator, and rides it up to the roof restaurant and seats himself near the railing with a view of the mountains and the sea. He is watching one of the hugh birds circling in the distance as the server steps up beside his table."Good morning sir, what would like to eat?" she asks.Jay turns and sees that she is an Amburst, taller than him with big eyes, sharp claws, and a sweet smile, "I haven't decided, what would you recommend?"She smiles at him, and looks deeply into his eyes "My tastes are different than yours but the Kyranin special has been getting some compliments this morning, would you like to try it?"Jay looks both ways then back at her. Softly he replies, "as long as there are no kreptigs I will" Watching her give him a funny smile, "and I would love a strong mrruk first if that is possible"Tilting her head as she smiles harder at him, "I suspect I can arrange it for you, anything else sir?"Jay looks at her, "yesterday there was a pastry available with some kind of fish in it, are there any left?"She nods her head "I will check" and turns stepping toward the kitchen as she looks back at him with a goofy smile. Jay looks back to see the bird but it is gone, he hears his name being called and turns to see Sihiryan waving from near the elevator. He waves back as she is coming toward his table. "are you joining me for breakfast?"Sihiryan sits across from him, "yes, we are going out to the market today Jay, so I have to talk with you a little first."
