We all have ideas of where we want to go in life and what we want to be-clear images of destinations and achievements. However, life never goes the way we imagine. Instead of being disappointed when we fall short of our goals, we should rejoice in the growth brought forth by the striving. In The Potter and I: Conversations of My Heart, Angela Mwaniki, PhD, gleefully acknowledges that she is a work in progress. Her poems capture simple yet poignant times in her life, including her relationship with a cow named Bahati, the time she watched a man miss his bus, and a special corn harvest on her family farm in Kenya.
