A fire in August of 2016, consumed much of the Northern California mountain community of Lower Lake. Footage of the "Clayton" fire was broadcast on the National News. Images of buildings and shops burning on Main Street were very dramatic and alarming to see........but what affected people most was the loss of the Lower Lake Community United Methodist Church, built entirely of redwood in 1884. Imagine all the baptisms, weddings, funerals and various celebrations the church building witnessed throughout the years. Songs, prayers, hopes, dreams, concerns and confessions all passed through the walls, rising high above the church's steeple, far beyond either flames or smoke! Many lives were touched inside the building that burned down. In their honor, and to help raise funds for rebuilding the church, this devotional booklet has been published. 80% of all royalties from the sale of this book are donated to the Lower Lake Community United Methodist Church Building Fund. These writings are based on a series of sermons preached by the Author before the church burned down. The prayers are left open at the end of each, for The Reader to finish. Each Chapter of this Devotional Book contains insight into familiar Biblical stories and accounts, including: "The Good Samaritan," "Mary, Martha and Jesus," "The Twenty-Third Psalm" "Wrestling with Angels; Jacob and Esau," and meditations; "On the Burning of a Church." Fresh, and entertaining, each Devotion explores themes and issues in a way that strengthens Faith and encourages Hope. After you've read this empowering work, you will want to send copies as gifts to your friends, family and loved-ones at Easter, Christmas and Birthdays. This book would be a welcome companion to Seniors, Shut-ins and those in hospital, as well as an excellent addition to personal and church libraries. This thought-provoking book makes an excellent bedside companion as well as thoughtful gift that contributes to the re-building of a beloved, country church.
