Rosetta Parker is a young black girl who grows up in West Philadelphia's Mantua section. Living with her mother and older brother, Rosetta uncovers dark family secrets that lead her on a mission of discovery. When the Federal Bureau of Investigation reveals a connection between Rosetta and a radical black organization, she is offered an escape hatch by turning government witness. While attending college in Ohio, Rosetta becomes involved in an affair with a professor, who steers her into a job that ultimately changes her life. An assignment to Paris, France, reveals she is a mere pawn in a much larger scheme, which points to the fact that one should never trust a stranger.
