The conception of this book has its genesis in my soul's cry to God for a deeper revelation of the Proverbs 31 woman. Each time I read this passage of scripture I always left the reading feeling deficient, sad, overwhelmed, and hopeless. I knew in my heart I could never measure up to her standards. My past sins and failures were ever present in my mind as I read of her flawless character. Yes, I know my past is not remembered by God; however, I couldn't seem to get past my past to walk boldly and confidently in God's love for me and His plan for my life. I had always felt that everyone else was worthy of God's love and blessings, but struggled to believe I was worthy of the same. My heart's desire was to be confident of God's love for me and to approach His throne with boldness and assurance. I needed the reassurance that I was His beloved daughter, whom He values above rubies. Yes, me! I no longer wanted to feel trepidation and despair when I read of this woman who is portrayed as the epitome of womanhood. No, I didn't want to envy her, I desired to be like her-blessed and highly favored of God. As I prayed and meditated concerning my assignment next day, the question came to mind: "Why is she compared to the ruby?"
