As a child her grandfather, Miles Drake, had told Erin many wonderful and exciting stories of a medieval norse world. As an adult many years later Erin learned the 'stories' were all true, were, in fact, her grandfather's adventures on a distant medieval world. Several years later, under desperate circumstances, with all hope gone and facing a miserable death, Erin accepted the strange dark offer of that memorable long ago afternoon.
