The Arts And Mental Health

The Arts and Mental Health explores the notion that taking part in activities which includes music, art and creative writing can bring therapeutic benefits which in turn can contribute to an improvement in an individuals mental wellbeing. Within the pages of the book, primarily through the medium of Art and creative writing, I illustrate my journey of being diagnosed with a severe mental illness which culminated with me being sectioned under the Mental Health Act 1983. Having used the medium of the Arts in my personal journey of recovery, I have discovered that It is a weapon that can save someones life in the battle against mental illness. Ultimately, the Arts are a source of hope.
