The Philosopher in me started when I was a child. I loved to listen to my grandmother, who aside from being a deeply religious person was also practical, and philosophical when it came matters of life and living. She was the foundation, the rock on which our family was built. Her soft voice and calm demeanor shielded an aloofness, detached, impersonal coolness masked by her kindness, generosity, and compassion. I loved being near her and with her, it gave me a feeling of security. She possessed great strength and calmness that I felt when with her or whenever I thought of her. Grandma was always my most favorite person on the planet. I had always felt a special bond with her. While living in Marina Del Rey, I woke one morning at 3 AM with the strangest feelings and thoughts about her, I decided to call Hawaii and learned that she has just died. It was also the morning of my birthday.Sometimes it's difficult to find the right words to best and most accurately describe special people that we know. There seems to be contradictions or is it polarities in their being which makes it hard to pinpoint or accurately describe their simplicity. She had wisdom, knowledge, insights into situations and people that I naturally gravitated to. I loved her and wanted to be very much like her. On many occasions throughout my life when I made negative choices and created limited beliefs I would think of her. I would wonder what she would say to me, what kind of advice she would dispense. I knew whatever she would say had greater meaning and depth to it than the simple words she might use. I knew there was a wealth of knowledge and experience to support whatever she might say.I felt wisdom was silent knowledge we all possessed but few people had the password to access it with the ability to accurately and simply explain any situation and give the appropriate advice for its solution.I love to walk as it allows me the time and solitude to think accurately about how to resolve negative situations I created. I often come up with philosophical phrases and would write them down to review from time to time.
