Cascadia Park

Cascadia Park is set in Portland, Oregon in the late 2000s. A copywriter and budding cartoonist watches as her friends' marriage unravels at the outset of the Great Recession. Over the course of a year, Drew and her friends work and play, dine together and plan their futures, constantly sorting out what it means to be urbane 30-somethings, and always questioning what forces are within one's control, and which are most certainly not. The contemporary women in Cascadia Park thrive in the Portland area forging friendships and carving out their places in the 21st century. The people in Drew's circle of friends face the impending economic calamity with smart work, enlightened speculation, and modern senses of humor. Her two closest friends navigate newly married life and small business ownership while she tests the dating waters with varying and sometimes freaky results. Cascadia Park's characters discover truths about each other over time, given small reveals and sneak peeks here and there. They bounce off acquaintances and friends-of-friends seeking intimacy and the oh-so elusive lasting companionship. Like us, they think they have it all figured out, but even their own hearts sometimes surprise.
