Lavender Runs Away

Eight and half years old Lavender Lilace lives with her loving parents and pinto horse named Pepper-mint inside a quiet, peaceful town in 1757. Life is normal for all four of them...until a rapid fire starts in the family's store! Excited Lavender finally figures out that the word "thrilling" can sometimes mean permanent bad changes when her mother and father are killed in the blaze. She begins escaping to her cousin's home with Peppermint and a few of their limited supplies. But can Lavender successfully reach her aunt's farm safely and also outrun two stealthy, mastered, bloodthirsty burglar brothers? Is she ready for all the challenges she has to face?
