Chinamaze is set in the timeframe of the "97 Accords" prior to China taking control of Hong Kong from the British. Two young attractive women on an extended round-the world cruise become witness to a political assassination in a Hong Kong museum. They are herded by guards onto a bus along with a number of other tourists who also witnessed the incident. The bus is purposely pushed over a cliff by the military and it is assumed that all passengers were killed. However 1 of the world-cruise women (Jackie) survived as did a young Asian boy. The story is about their grueling nighttime escape through a thick jungle. After several close calls of being captured, they run into a famous US movie actor/producer and his crew who go above and beyond to help the pair. Romance ensues, placing Jackie's protectors in as much danger as she is. How, with no papers and half of the Chinese Government and military hunting for her, will she manage to escape Hong Kong and return to America? And what will become of the film crew? Elaine was born and raised near Disneyland in Southern CA. For a number of years she participated in many state wide competitions with The McCoy Toppers Baton Corp. (a group managed by JoAnn McCoy). She later graduated from Long Beach State with a degree in Sociology. After college, she entered the men's clothing sales field and then the traveling Gold Jewelry business, crisscrossing the country with 40 lbs. of gold chains and rings. She then moved to San Francisco where she met her husband and they were married in SF's Grace Cathedral. Shortly after moving to a waterfront home on Bethel Island CA. she was stricken with breast cancer, and an 18-year battle with 3 different forms of cancer began. She fought bravely, rarely complaining about the side effects of chemo and radiation treatments. In Aug 2018, she passed away peacefully and without pain. She had researched and written CHINAMAZE (her first and last novel) during her chemo treatments but later refused to have the story published.
