An individual with autism experiences difficulties with social interactions and communication, and exhibits restricted and repetitive behavior. The underlying cause of the disease is not entirely understood but can be ascribed to a combination of genetic and environmental factors. The genetics of autism are complex. The associated behaviors of autism may have multiple pathophysiologies.
