But the author's approach is lighthearted with whimsical illustrations of riding to heaven between the ears of an elephant, jumping on a jackelope, driving a slow-moving tractor, or hopping on a grasshopper. From an educational point of view, the ABC format is a teaching tool. Also, the use of alliteration, colorful adjectives, and lively (action-packed) verbs assist in developing children's vocabularies and language skills. The frequent use of question marks may help early learners distinguish between a question and a statement. At the end, the author acknowledges that Alex is asking an excellent question with an answer full of mystery that only God knows.
