As an author and a lover of spiritual poetry, I looked forward with much anticipation to Gwen's book. Knowing her as I do, I knew it would inspire the reader with courage and hope-and I was not disappointed. Although some of her poems were written specifically for others, I heard her calm and compelling voice speak directly to me, sharing the wondrous splendor of God's amazing love and grace. You will be encouraged! You will be empowered! You will be blessed! -Beverly Riley Graves, author of My Heart is Full and Ever So Grateful! Gwen has a gift of writing poetry that is nothing short of genius! She takes the name of a person, a topic, or theme, and through her creative lense, creates a poetic work of art. The manner in which Gwen's poems touch the heart is because her work is a reflection of who she is as a person. Her sweet spirit and her relationship to God manifest themselves through each page of this book. It is truly a Poetic Inspiration. Mavis Major, Ph.D., Behavioral Health Therapist, Reno, Nevada Gwendolyn D. Baker was born in Montgomery, Alabama and raised in Buffalo, New York. She became intrigued with the acrostic strategy of poetry as a 5th grader and continues to embrace this style in her writing today. Her educational and career opportunities include: Buffalo East High School, Buffalo State College, MarJon School of Cosmetology, Northeastern Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, WBLK 93.7 FM, and Oakwood College/University. Coupled with her love for God, who has brought her over every mountain of personal obstacles, and with her scrupulous passion to inspire others, she celebrates how God has blessed her to be a blessing and make a difference in the lives of so many through writing. She appreciates that God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Gwen is retired and resides in Tonawanda, New York, and is grateful for her beautiful three adult daughters, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.
