How does one go from being a ballroom dancer to a fashion model, to a beauty queen contestant, to a follower and teacher of the New Age-and finally, to a minister's wife and missionary in Africa and Madagascar? This is the journey of author Elisabeth Parent's life, one that has been filled with a number of joys and sorrows, challenges and tests. Before Elisabeth was even born, her Canadian family was struck with a horrifying tragedy that resulted in the deaths of several of Elisabeth's older siblings at a very young age. Unfortunately, even with the arrival of Elisabeth and her sister Nadine, the family was not able to survive the previous losses, and her parents' marriage ended in divorce. During her tumultuous childhood, Elisabeth fought to find a sense of security despite all the uncertainty that constantly surrounded her. The instability of this time of her life would surface in the development of an eating disorder that would plague Elisabeth into adulthood. The struggle for a true sense of identity would follow Elisabeth over the course of the next few years, through traveling to other countries and experimenting with Hinduism and the New Age, and culminating in her returning to Canada and meeting the love of her life in Richard, her future husband. While still in the New Age her Channeling Teacher said, "Elisabeth, I had a dream about you leaving Spiritualism and joining a loving church where you will meet your future husband who will become a minister." To which she replied, "I will never join any church, let alone marry a minister." After her marriage to Richard, a higher power stepped in to provide direction for Elisabeth in a purposeful and fulfilling life of service as a minister's wife and missionary in Africa. Through her work with her husband, Elisabeth found her true calling, passion, and sense of self in her ministry to God. With an engaging and personable narrative, her inspirational story will enrich and touch readers who are floundering with finding their own true path by providing hope to those who are still seeking the unconditional love and support that only God can impart for all of us with his divine acceptance.
