In poetry, a pattern is created and the words are arranged to fit into the pattern. The pattern of rhyming words in a poem creates a beat. This beat is the rhyme scheme. Letters are often stood for the rhyme scheme. For example, a for the first two lines that rhyme, b for the second, c for the third and etc. Students will learn to love reading poetry, especially when read out aloud.
