Overview
This edited volume is a collection of case studies and curriculum, sourced from the community of practice, that shares blueprints for establishing and best practices in sustaining K-12 focused STEM education outreach, fostered through partnerships and programs between K-12 school districts and STEM-education outreach organizations (e.g., universities, institutes, industries, and nonprofits). Contributors to the edited volume describe the types of STEM opportunities for K-12 students in their community, outside of the traditional classroom environment, via community-based partnerships between a STEM outreach organization and K-12 school district. The editors have a particular interest in partnerships and/or programs that provide novel STEM experiences for K-12 students from historically underrepresented groups and/or entities that are minority-serving and/or a curriculum that uniquely engages students in the cognitive and/or non-cognitive affordances of STEM learning. This edited volume is divided into four parts when community partnerships provide additional opportunities for K- 12 STEM learning: during the school day, during out-of-school time, at home, and in the community--
