This book is about a young man by the name of Clarence who is drafted in the sixties at a young age of 21. He is a young black man who deals with racism and deals with all types of bad experiences while in Vietnam. He has a son who is two years old and a wife who is 21. On his return from Vietnam his wife ends up leaving Clarence with his son to raise.
