I think despite being an Engineer, that too a Mechanical Engineer, she has chosen an unusual path of music and poetry. Vanita is an accomplished singer and musician and works as a Valuer-Chartered Engineer-Researcher-Consultant in the field of Mechanical Engineering. As a person, Vanita teased me out of all my prejudices about Engineers and their 'colourless' pursuits in life. She is active as a professional and an academic devoted to research and teaching. But that's not all. A voracious reader, singer and poet! The title of her collection, Wings of Silence speaks volumes about her poems. Most of the poems have come to life in moments of silent ruminations that gave wings to her imagination. It is in the deep silences of the heart that one can feel the intensity of Vanita's poems.
