The City of Chicago in the year 1924 was a wild place, the North dominated by Dean O'Banion of the Irish Mob, and the South by the Italians under Johnny Torrio and Al 'Scarface' Capone. Prohibition laws were imposed across America banning the sale and manufacturing of alcohol, yet Chicago is not dry; beer, spirits and blood would flow on the streets as the bootleggers' battle to control the illegal trade. Out of the shadows of conflict emerged a Sicilian hit man and sorcerer called the Scourge. To knock off enemies and competition he raises a homicidal ghoul from the grave. In response an organisation which protects supernatural creatures from discovery, and is chaired by a centuries old undead Conquistador sends a request to Britain, to ask for assistance from the legendary and powerful Lord Ruthven, to help rid existence of the troublesome ghoul. And as Lord Ruthven arrives in America, he instigates an escalation of the wars between bloodthirsty mobsters, which threatens to spiral out of mortal control and invite in the legions of the damned.
