The Magnificent Life Of Blue

The Magnificent Life of Blue was born while I was scrolling through social media one day and an old, sick and injured Belgian work horse showed up in my newsfeed. There was something about this horse- it was like a magnetic force attracted me to him. I had never owned a draft horse, but knew this boy was supposed to be mine. The necessary steps were taken, despite the fear and anxiety in my stomach saying "what are you doing " My husband and I drove to Washington, D.C to pick this old guy up, and that was the beginning of our journey. A day that no doubt, changed both of our lives. That once old, sick and injured work horse is now very spoiled and adored and his name is Blue. During our first year together, Blue went through many ups and downs with his health. More than once I thought he would have to be euthanized. After repeat infections and several misdiagnoses from a veterinarian(whom we no longer use), I thought our life together would come to an end after only 2 weeks. Luckily, God directed our path and led us to the right people who could help. Fast forward to present day, Blue has battled his way through many setbacks-both mental and physical showing me that true strength comes from within. When I saw that very first picture of Blue, the first thing I thought was- one day he had a mother who loved him dearly. A mother who nursed and cared for him, and kept him safe at all cost. That is what a mother does. I knew that his mother would be devastated to see her son in this poor condition. He was someone's child and he needed help desperately. My maternal instincts took over, I put myself in his mother's place and did whatever was necessary for his recovery.I lost my mother eight and half years ago. I was 27 years old when she died. My daughter was two and half and my son only three months old. Her death was completely devastating for me, it changed my heart. I am still learning how to cope with my grief and live each day without regret. Blue and I have healed together. His courage, strength and willingness to open his heart after the abuse in his past inspire me daily. Over the course of Blue's rescue and recovery this story line developed further and further- and The Magnificent Life of Blue took shape. I am honored and excited to share Blue's journey. You will meet Blue's mother, Stella and come to understand his extraordinary heart.
