On December 6, 1941, a new wave of madness hit the world, as the Army of the "Empire of the Rising Sun" commenced the occupation of the Philippines, to be followed the next day by the infamous attack on the US naval base of Pearl Harbor, a cowardly act that spread the fires of conflict worldwide, leading to the death of nearly 52 million people. Deep inside the nocturnal island of Luzon lived a humble baker, father of eight, named Cirilo Cabrera Sr., who had just huddled his family in serenity and safety of the province, away from the hostile shores of the ocean, and the inevitable Japanese invasion.
