Why do the ways of the world seem to plague the lives of so many believers in the church? We all believe that God is on our side (cf. Romans 8:31 NKJV) and that He has good plans for us (cf. Jeremiah 29:11 NKJV) but yet our lives seem to be so filled with all the problems the machinery of life seems to deliver to our doorstep. Our preachers and pastors call us to be different than the world and we all agree that our lives should be different but at the end of the day how many can really say their lives are different? I am not talking about behavior management, and dying to self, or working hard not to sin. I am talking about the problems of life, car problems, financial problems, house problems, job problems, marriage problems, relationship problems, kid scheduling problems, health problems, neighbor problems, problems, problems, problems, there just never seems to be a break of rest before the next issue comes knocking on the door. Why is that? Why can't believers seem to have the rest, peace, joy, calm, or triumph (cf. 2 Corinthians 2:14 NKJV), and reigning (cf. Romans 5:17) the bible says we should be experiencing? Why can't we as believers, adopted sons of such a gracious, wonderful, loving, all powerful Father seem to experience the promises we are taught about and agree with?I want to paint a picture from scripture that may give us some insight into how we as believers experience the life God desires for us and promises us in the word. A picture presenting an office of authority, power, and responsibility that is meant to reap these promises and experiences we are told about from scripture but yet rarely see. An Eikon representing the full image of Christ, a likeness into which the Father predestined us and completed when He reconciled us into absolute conformity (Romans 8:29 NKJV). Are we an Eikon reconciled into this image?
