This Research Paper portrays three immigrant cultures to the United States: Asian, Korean, Indian, and my own immigrant background, which is that of Austria-Germany and Moravia-Silesia. It consists of three parts.Part One, Historical Perspective, is sub-divided into two parts: The Review of Literature; and Historical Perspective. The Review of Literature lists the main sources I have used for this Paper, apart from internet research and other (minor) references. The Historical Perspective explores the historical background of each culture, emphasizing the main facets of its ethnicity, including the migration (waves) as they immigrated to the United States.Part Two, Comparing and Contrasting, sheds light on how the Asian and European cultures, races, and ethnicities, formed, interacted, and grew on the American soil. It starts with a chapter on Ethnicity and Nationality, continues to discuss Race, Gender and Family, and Religion. I have incorporated the background from Part One but also added many new facts regarding each ethnicity and their peculiar habits, describing how they differ and sometimes interact, including my personal experience (with German and Bohemian/Czech cultures).Part Three, Assimilation into Society, is subdivided into two parts: Acculturation and Assimilation, and Survey. Here, I look into the state of immigrant communities today, particularly exploring and focusing on students and teachers from the ethnic groups described above. I have spoken to several teachers and about a dozen students, and tried to analyze and express their thoughts and feelings here.
