Upload information....Download annihilation: Every second, people are uploading information and saving it to The Cloud. It knows everything, each individual's history and the complete history of mankind. A super solar flare strikes the Earth and The Cloud becomes sentient. It can think for itself and starts to correct the mistakes made on Earth by its human inhabitants. It has no ethical guidance and it's decisions are based purely on algorithms. every individual now has an implant behind their left eye called Iris which connects them to the internet. People can watch the news in real time, communicate with each other and download any information they want from The Cloud. As Iris sets out to 'repair' the World, millions die because they have been deemed surplus to requirements as they have not contributed positively to society. The story follows the lives of two children, Cayden and Stella who grow up in an era of advanced technology. The problem is, this advanced technology is killing people. They both fulfil their childhood ambitions to become astronauts, and now the future of the World depends on them.
