Born in 1908, Mamie Lee Morrison Boone was in school during WW I. She was a teenager in the 1920s, married in the 1930s, and gave birth to two boys in the 1940s. This volume is a record of her thoughts and observations from her life in a small Midwestern town. It is a world that no longer exists. Mamie was a lover of nature, birds, small animals, and family. The world changed after the war, and so had her family. Part 2 of this volume shows not only her nostalgia for quieter times, but her devotion to her boys. Her writings move around in time and style, changing occasionally from prose to poetry. She was an observer of the world around her, and her story not only rings true for the women of her time but to all women who raise a family during any tumultuous times.
