Our story begins in the year 1800 on two sides of the world. One side is in the Duchy of Tuscany and the other in Albany, New York. The Patterson family is once again split. James Patterson, son of the famous Robert 'Pip' Patterson lives in what was known as the Duchy of Tuscany under Napoleon's sister as the Duchess. He owns and operates a successful estate producing wine, olives, and fruit. He is married to the Dutch ship owner Viika Hendriksen. They have two children and are very much in love. His vineyard prospers from their close relationship with the Emperor and his sister, the Duchess. The Patterson's are close friends with the Bortniak family in Siena. Hey are of Polish origin and their youngest son, André, joins the elite Polish Legions. He will fight in Spain and France. In America, at the Kingston Estate, in Albany, Pip is survived by his wife, Marie, and his daughter Diane. Diane is running the estate operations in farming, livestock, winery, distilleries, and sawmill. Pip's life long friend Howie Karger and his family still live with the Pattersons. Howie married and Delaware Princess, Doe in the Moonlight. They have two children a daughter, Morning Sun, and a son, Howard. Howard is attending the newly made military academy at West Point. At this time Thomas Jefferson is making the purchase of the Louisiana Territory from Napoleon. Howard Karger will become the Military commander in the territory and stationed at fort St. Louis. He is faced with Indian uprisings spurred on by the British. These events lead up to the War of 1812. America will experience the Burning of Washington City, the Battles of Baltimore and New Orleans after the defeat of Napoleon in 1814. With her armies free from fighting in France. Great Britain moves its mighty navy and army towards the United States to retake its former colonies. The British will learn that Americans are more determined than ever to keep their freedom. the Patterson Families will share in the military victories and defeats on two sides of the globe and witness a long and noble segment of their saga draw to an end.
