Fake News isn't a recent communication phenomenon. It has existed since man understood its value as an instrument to obtain certain benefits. However, nowadays this mass communication issue has a special significance: A weapon to undermine people will or destroy personal reputations. This book, Fake News Conspiracy, describes the nature and perversity of fake news not only in totalitarian governments, but also in relevant and recognized democracies. At the same time, it reveals the effects of untruth facts on journalism. Mass Media, historically, have been a consistent annoyance for powerful people that do not want citizens know truth about their corrupt or ineffective activities. For that reason, they always try to constrain press to avoid the disclosure of relevant facts against them (self-censorship), and the best strategy is taking advantage of any news mistake to discredit it before citizens. In effect, those new individual's communication resources on Internet are a perfect terrain for that target, because their messing flow of true and fake news represents a great opportunity to set up traps for press. In that sense, mass media have to be prudent enough to avoid a lot of baits on Internet as a part of a conspiracy of powerful persons. The author, Enrique Castejon-Lara, is a retired tenure professor for the Mass Communication School at Central University of Venezuela (UCV, Spanish acronyms), where he was Dean since 1996 to 1999. Also, he was head of the Interpretive Journalism department of that school, and has written several books about journalism and the importance of issues as truth, news sources manipulation, and fact checking.
