Out of the Basement: A Book of Poetry from Above the Floorboards is a collection of poems related to the author's experiences. These themes involve being kept in a basement, homelessness and death of a parent, a son and other family members. Additional subject matter involves becoming a mother, regret, hope, love and longing. Christina Roskovich is a child abuse survivor, domestic abuse survivor and much more. She is also a mother, daughter, sister, unpaid laundress, writer, adventurer and lover of life. As a writer of poetry for twenty years, her work was published in regional literary magazines and reviewed by a national magazine in the past. This is her first book, a culmination of many years of work. She currently resides in the Washington D.C. metro area and works in the non-profit field.
