Description of the Book Aaaachooo! is an exaggerated tale about a little girl named Amanda, whose GREAT BIG SNEEZE causes trouble at school, at the doctor's office, and at home. At the end of the story, with the good example set by her dog Milo, Amanda learns to control her sneeze using her own initiative. The bold and outrageously funny cover, with its depictions of chaos and disarray-all due to Amanda's big sneeze-encourages children to unleash their imaginations as they illustrate the book using the blank pages and space around the text. The scenes depicted in the story also require children to figure out how to draw facial expressions and how to depict movement. The use of alliteration and onomatopoeia (e.g., "everything clanked and crashed") adds a sense of rhythm and playfulness to the vivid descriptions. Parents and teachers can use these and other literary tools in the story to encourage children to use them in their own writing. About the Author The author's interest in writing for children stems from a long career of working with children, first as an elementary teacher, and later as a school psychologist. Now retired, Dr. Palmer continues to help children by writing books that entertain, reinforce basic academic skills, encourage creativity, and foster positive emotional growth. Among Dr. Palmer's published works are her illustrated children's books Ernestina the Ant; Tales from Nestorville, Book 1; A Noble Heart; and El ratón con el mechón and its English translation The Mouse with Spiky Hair. About the Illustrator Sirac discovered his passion for art at a young age. Highly skilled in different mediums and styles, he distinguishes himself by his versatility and ingenuity as an artist. He began illustrating children's books in 2017 with his first book Don't Put Gum in the Fish Bowl. Incorporating techniques from his formal training in graphic design, his extensive experience creating artworks for private and commercial clients, and his early work in the comic book industry, his illustrations for this book, Aaaachooo!, are sure to generate excitement among young readers and budding artists.
