Hole in Time is a book about a youth who accidentally falls through a hole in time and becomes his ancestors. He travels through different periods of time yet when he returns to his own time, he has been gone but seconds, yet remains with his ancestors for months and sometimes many years. He learns about his heritage and finds out he is of Aboriginal heritage. He keeps the knowledge of his ancestors and their skills and when he finally returns to his own time, searches out his Aboriginal heritage through an aunt of his fathers who is Aboriginal and an elder of her tribe. When they meet, she insists he be taken into her tribe and is put through the 'Coming of Age' ceremony and through this, he becomes the Keeper of Stories for his tribe. But he knows from his passage through time that he comes from another world and discovers his heritage lies in Tasmania. With his family, they head for Tasmania and he builds his home and business there. His land where he builds his home was once sacred land of his ancestors and the trees he used for the house are the spirits of his ancestors as well as the stone he uses. These spirits visit him and lead him to a life dedicated to bringing back the Aboriginal people to their land. It is through him that the Aboriginal people of Tasmania educate themselves and become members of parliament and gradually take their land back. Their move to reassert themselves in their traditional lands do not go unnoticed by the Far Right, and when the Aboriginal elders decide to hold a Corroboree, the Patriotic Youth League attack the meeting and several people are injured and 3 killed; but through hard work, the Aboriginal people of the Palawa Tribe gradually take their lands back from the White Invaders. May 3rd each year becomes a Public Holiday to remember their dead.
