For those who have a passion for the ocean and for all those creatures who live their lives beneath the waves, the author of 'King of the Blue' will submerge the reader beneath the sea and away from the reassuring heat of the sun. Plunging into the cool, pitch blackness of a moonless ocean, the strong taste of salt will invade your every pore, as your senses blur and your ears echo to an unmistakable sound; a sound that makes the hairs upon the back of your neck stand on end! Where you sense no life, there hides a multitude. Where you see no eyes, eyes are upon you. Where you sense no danger, there danger lurks! 'Wild blood' is the third tale following in the wake of the travels and undersea adventures of a young Orca named Torryn and of his undersea family the pod Tor-Gah. A pod of Southern Ocean Orca who swim under the leadership of Torkahn, Torryn's powerful and awe inspiring father. "Concentrating his mind on the rapidly approaching and unknown pod of whales, Torryn looks to his mother. He can see that her eyes are set wide, her mouth hanging open to reveal her fine rows of teeth. Nee-lah too was copying this behaviour, as each member of the pod swam strongly toward the on-coming members of the opposing pod. Feeling the sea around him come alive to the searching echoes and the crackling pulses and immense energy of the combined lives of more than thirty Orca. With his senses quivering to this overwhelming tide of calls and scents, Torryn finds himself holding his breath!" To a still inexperienced Torryn, news of his father's sudden wish to lead the pod away from the sight of the land, to swim out into the deep sea fills him with a feeling of breathless anticipation. Swimming in company with his father and his mother, Sorryl, and the other members of the pod who each make up his very close knit family, Torryn soon comes to discover that the deep ocean hides more hazards and dangers than he could ever have imagined. In his first experience of swimming in the deep sea, the pod arrives at the lone marker that rises up from the seafloor far below, appearing from the sea like a black finger. Known as Rah's rock, this wave battered piece of stone set in the midst of an otherwise empty sea. Confronted by the lives and actions of another group of whales who spend their lives swimming far from the sight of land, Torryn is weary of meeting whales whose hearts beat to the currents of their truly wild blood. Feeling the irresistible pull of Rah's Rock, Torryn swims unaware that the rock holds a special meaning for his kind, and for all of those who make their lives in the deep sea. From the darkest depths of the deepest sea, to the arrival of the wild whales, Torryn swims through unseen currents and faces hidden enemies in seas that are as strange to him as are the wild Orca who now fill his father's sea. Swimming as one the pod Tor-Gah faces this latest challenge to their peaceful existence, as they swim together, united to defend all that they hold most dear.
