Cornell: My Golden Years: A Love Story

I was first refused admission to Cornell University College of Agriculture because I was not a Farm Boy. But I tell of a wonderful miracle which occurred, permitting my entrance. I often ask myself: Why I am writing this review of my early life? In truth, I have found excitement and joy in going back over my youthful experiences in the Navy, my work as a draftsman in downtown New York City and my Farm School and Cornell days. I was fortunate to have kept diaries and with new computer technology it enabled me to voice-transcribe from these hand written diaries directly into computer text. Yes, it has been a rich and wonderful way to spend retirement hours reviewing the wonderful people, events and loved ones during that period some 65 years ago when we were all so young, vibrant and dynamic. I now present this second phase of my recollections from diaries and memories of my life and experiences from my time in the Navy, my honorable medical discharge from the Navy and my days after discharge when working as a draftsman in the downtown heart of the city and where I went to Cooper Union College in the evenings. And then the revolutionary move away from my career in engineering to a new career in agriculture. I tell the story of my year at the National Farm School in Bucks county Pennsylvania and the four wonderful years at Cornell University interspersed with summer experiences in California plus my two memorable love affairs. I end this Book II with my meeting and my marriage to Roberta.
