Cloud Kids: Adventures in Hawaii

Content with life on the Clouds, Eleven-year old Henry James, and his entire 6th grade class are thrown into despair when they learn they will be moving to Earth for the first time to attend different middle schools around the globe - without each other, or their families. One of the countries under consideration is the state of Hawaii. With the help of a visiting teacher from the islands, the kids learn much more than just the ancient history and culture of that state. They explore their own heritage, and learn the value of respecting others whose cultures on Earth differ from their own on the Clouds. Their journey of self-discovery doesn't end there. They travel to Hawaii where they experience a new culture and new adventures with Earth kids their own age. Themes include racial and ethnic diversity, bullying, bravery, self-awareness and self-discovery, change, trust, forgiveness, friendship, problem solving, social skills.
