I started writing scripts out of necessity for my acting classes. I just couldn't find a lot of clever scripts, particularly monologues, that suited me.Once I got started writing down some of the stuff in my head, more ideas started flowing and before I knew it, I had a few dozen scripts completed. Sometimes I would start blathering one-liners and my husband Larry would make me write stuff down. Adam & Eve was written while doing dinner dishes together (to be truthful he was washing dishes and I was writing). My favorite things to write are zany, over the top characters with costuming, hair, make-up and lots of props. My inspirations are Carol Burnett, Tracy Ullman and Lucille Ball although none of them wrote their own material. My ultimate idol is Joan Rivers for her brilliant writing and comedic genius. The characters and situations I write about are typically taken from my real-life, but I've changed peoples' names around in hopes they won't sue me. The first script I wrote was 'The Funeral' and it was filmed with Sandra Wade. My father tells me 'The Funeral' is based off of an old Yiddish joke that I probably heard years ago like 'My Cousins Party'. However 'Aunt Wingman' really did happen, I couldn't have possibly invented that conversation. Some of the scripts are the same scene written as both a monologue and dialogue. I also wrote a few ensemble scripts. These allow beginner actors to be a cast member without having to memorize pages of dialogue.Sometimes I put in direction and a character description, sometimes I didn't. Either way, make your own decisions about how you want to portray the character. A great actor can take a script and portray the character several different ways, all of them successfully. Many of these scripts have been filmed and are on YouTube. Larry (my handsome husband the director/producer) did several professionally, a few times it was just me recording myself and sometimes it was an acting friend doing me a favor in class and filming on my phone. No matter the quality, any of my videos using these characters is my interpretation. I welcome you to film and share your version of these scenes. Most of all, have fun with these scripts and characters. I did!For a sample of these scripts, please visit my YouTube channel: Sharyn Pak Withersor follow these links: https: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ubk0Gx30xnEhttps: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4DWWz5uCAYhttps: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=YO9IGhxnLqM&t=9shttps: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-dt4QiE34k&t=4shttps: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrQORxBIzP0https: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0TiOB3DCcM&t=7shttps: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKlyFkQh3g0&t=12shttps: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=qp98AqXMtJ0&t=1shttps: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=BkCDQlP1QsMhttps: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=QKMXWjO9RbE&t=36shttps: //www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoZQsWHwugU&t=6shttps: //www.youtube.com/watch?
