Vertical Love to Horizontal Love was a month-long Bible study given to Kiarra Sykes in 2017 by the Holy Spirit to share with her peers. While many are consumed with the festivities surrounding Valentine's Day, others are often depressed because they believe they do not have anyone to share with or receive love from. This impacted Kiarra's spirit deeply. She wanted others to realize they have a heavenly Father who loves them very much regardless of their relationship status. She is now publishing this book for everyone to realize God's love is 24/7 365. Through daily devotional activities such a study, reflection questions, and journal entries, Kiarra's goal is that you develop a routine of intimate fellowship with the Father, biblical knowledge, and learn the true definition of love. Through four weeks you will grow through four modules which are: The Foundations of Love, Real Love is Sacrifice, Love is a Choice, and Loving Like Jesus. So let go of those preconceived notions of love developed by society and the entertainment industry, and allow the God of Truth to penetrate your spirit with His purpose and mission for love in your life! Book Dedication: This devotional is dedicated to the person who thought they were unworthy of God's love because of their past, to the person who began seeking love in all the wrong places, and the person who believes they are unlovable. I pray that in doing this devotional study, your misconceptions and preconceived notions about love are sent to the electric chair to never be revived. God has so much He wants to reveal to us, but we must first take a leap of faith in opening ourselves up to cleansed. This is your first step. Do not rush through this book, but instead take your time when doing each devotional. Allow the Spirit to consume you and expand your mind when it comes to love. I named this study, "Vertical Love to Horizontal Love" because God's love reached down from His throne in Heaven, entered into a sin-filled world and then defeated death in Hell. This makes a vertical line. Furthermore, because of this love, He has removed our sin from us (Psalm 103:12). This makes a horizontal line. These two lines make the cross-- the ultimate showing of love. This concept also applies to Jesus' teaching that we are called to love God (above) and our neighbor (next to us) as we love ourselves-- making another cross. The aim of this study is to show you just how much God loves us. He loves you and He loves me so much that He sent His only son to die on the cross for our sins. Every single time you pick up this book to study, I believe the Holy Spirit will open another chamber of your heart, mind, and soul to accept and consume this never-ending love. God loves you and so do I.
