Limericks And Short Verses

This collection of limericks by Artist, poet, author and monologist, D. L. De McClung is not the usual bawdy light-hearted romp that limericks are known for. Some may fit that description, to be sure, but others are serious observations and commentary on the human condition. It should be understood by the reader that nothing is sacred and no taboo is honored within these rhymes. Social and political realities are put in perspective, and the mores of a fickle public are exposed for the absurdity they most often are. Religion and social custom, traditionalism and archaic notions are put in their place. And what is poetry without romance and heart-ache? And, what is poetic license if it is not utilized? Some readers may take offense, even outraged, but the poet has made it clear, he doesn't care. In fact, it might even be the whole point. Limericks and Short Verses is the eleventh book, to date, by De McClung, and his third volume of poetry. As long as the creative juices keep flowing there will be more.
