Sketchbook Challenge: 100 Prompts For Everyday Drawing

Develop a daily sketching habit by following Susan's 100 exciting and varied prompts. The main body of the book will comprise 100 daily exercises. These will take the form of simple prompts to encourage you to explore different everyday objects, observe them and create a sketch, doodle or drawing. For example, one of the first prompts will suggest you find an object that you see every day in your home but maybe don't pay much attention to - a useful or commonplace item that you haven't sketched before - and draw it. None of the exercises will be over-challenging. Rather than teaching the reader about tone and shade, perspective, depth and composition, the aim, purely and simply, is for people to relax, have fun, and get creative! At the start of the book Susan provides an introduction explaining why she has written the book, how to use it, and the benefits and reasons for cultivating a daily sketching habit. There is also a simple chapter on tools and materials, followed by a consideration of mindset and creativity when approaching the 100 prompts. Before Susan introduces the prompts themselves, she includes some warm-up exercises to help awaken the creative brain and inspire you to think more broadly about the prompts that she provides. The book will be illustrated throughout with Susan's own responses to the prompts, in a mix of black and white sketches in pen or pencil, plus coloured illustrations, paintings and even collage - all intended to add interest, to inspire you and to enliven the look and feel of the book.
