Born in Accra, Ghana, Africa, Kingsley Fifi Baiden is a former professional footballer and founder of the Fifi Soccer Foundation-a charitable organization that empowers underprivileged youth in Ghana through education and sport. Baiden is one of four children to parents that are of Ghana's lower-working class. A witness to his parents' daily struggle to provide enough food and an education for him and his three siblings, Baiden began selling kerosene on the streets of Accra at the age of seven years old, in an effort to support his family.Despite the hardships of a rough childhood, Baiden went on to secure a scholarship from the world-renowned Right to Dream Academy enabling him to leverage, as well as further create, opportunities for himself. After five years in the academy, Baiden secured a scholarship to study in the United States at Dunn School in Santa Barbara, California. Three years later, he earned an athletic scholarship to play football (soccer) at the University of California, Santa Barbara. While completing his undergraduate studies, Baiden's continued hard work on the field yielded an illustrious four-year career. In January 2014, he was selected in the MLS SuperDraft by the Columbus Crew where he signed his first professional contract. After a few years of professional football, Baiden turned his attention to coaching and currently works at the Santa Barbara Soccer Club in addition to running his own California based soccer camps for children. Inspired by his poor upbringing and desire to give back, Fifi Baiden established the Fifi Soccer Foundation. This non-profit organization seeks to provide Ghanaian youth with the valuable life skills needed to succeed and become future leaders and role models.
