Poet Mary Howard grew up in Boston but spent summers living in a stone mill in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts. There, her father taught her how to fish and throw a machete; her brother, how to climb trees; and her grandmother, how to write a poem every night before bed. Thus began a lifelong passion for the natural world and for poetry. Mary Howard divides her time between New York City and the Berkshires.
