East Light: Not many artists are as gifted or successful as Magnus Thorsen, who makes a living painting portraits of upper crust Carolinians and moneyed tourists. With his beach cottage, notoriety and indulgent lifestyle, he appears to be "living the dream." Apparently, however, the dream he's living is a nightmare. Just out of rehab for alcoholism, he has purchased a gun and pint of his favorite whiskey and driven to Scotch Bonnet beach to stop his pain once and for all. Once at the beach, however, an unforeseen turn of events thrusts him into deciding whether to take his life or save the life of a stranger.
